This research is intended to describe bottomland hardwood tree species’ habitat optima with regards to gradients in light availability and flood stress. Results of the study will inform applied management as well as theoretical questions regarding long-term species coexistence.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to explain the factors affecting habitat optima for bottomland hardwood tree species during the seedling establishment phase, with a focus on light and flood stresses.
Upon completion, participants will be able to explain the role of differential species growth and mortality during the seedling stage in shaping forest compositional and demographic structure.
