Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I developed a love for nature and the outdoors at a young age. Hiking in the Texas Hill Country provided was formative experience, sparking lifelong interests in botany, ecology, and conservation. I studied general biology as an undergraduate, after which I spent a year working as a seasonal field botanist in Great Basin of western Nevada. Following this, I completed a Master's degree in biology, during which I carried out a study of dryland reforestation. Currently, I am a PhD student, investigating regeneration of southeastern United States bottomland hardwood forests.
