Lydia Tymon graduated from the University of Washington (UW) with a B.S. in Botany in 1998. She returned to UW in 2007 as a master’s student in forestry. In 2014 she obtained her PhD in plant pathology from Washington State University. Her work focused on the epidemiology and taxonomy of Alternaria spp. infecting potatoes. Between 2018 and 2020, she led the Vegetable Pathology program where she worked on the biology and management of pathogens and insects of small fruit, potatoes, and flowering ornamentals. In 2021, she joined Mast Reforestation, to serve as a scientific lead for the Bio R&D team.
