Susie Kocher is a forestry advisor for the University of California Cooperative Extension in the Central Sierra Nevada of California. She conducts outreach, education and applied research on forest management by small non-industrial private forest landowners. She founded a statewide forest stewardship education workshop series with funding from Calfire in 2019 and a post-fire forest resilience workshop series with funding from the USFS in 2022. She also has programs teaching prescribed fire to private landowners and forestry skills to community college students to increase workforce development. She is the director of the El Dorado / Amador Prescribed Burn Association and is a California Registered Professional Forester. She holds a MS in Forest Resources Management from the University of Washington and a BA in Anthropology (Honors) from the University of Iowa.
