When the Mosquito Fire of 2022 threatened forests in the Sierra Nevada foothills, two workforces quickly mobilized. Wildland firefighters focused on suppression, while an interdisciplinary team evaluated and mitigated damage to forest resources. This poster presents a case study of how interdisciplinary collaboration impacted hazard tree efforts during the fire.
Learning Objectives:
Establish interactions with wildland firefighters and resource specialists in wildland fire settings.
Recognize the intricacies of working with subject matter experts in both wildland fire and resource management.
Visualize how to plan with archeology resource advisors, fireline qualified resource advisors, timber resource advisors, and fire operation specialists before implementing hazard tree cutting and ordering of equipment.
