The Ksik Stakii(Beaver) Project bridges Western Sciences and Traditional Ecological Knowledge through place based knowledge by utilizing a beaver mimicry restoration technique that involved building beaver dam analogs to “create floodplains that improve water quality, enhance habitat for birds, and reduce the risk of flood damage to man-made structures.

Learning Objectives:

Know the effects of beavers and beaver dam analogues have on watershed health. Participants will be able to create there own beaver dam analogues.
Gain insight into Traditional Ecological Knowledge and how that factors into riparian forest restoration on the Blackfeet Nation.
Better facilitate projects with First Nations and create better partnerships.
