We conducted a remote sensing analysis of tree crown scorch following a prescribed burn conducted in the southeastern United States. Using an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), we developed methods to evaluate the proportion of crown scorch of overstory longleaf pine (Pinus palustris) trees, focusing on individual tree fire effects.
Learning Objectives:
Outline the workflow necessary for collecting, processing, and analyzing UAS data.
Explain the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional analysis of UAS imagery and the applications and utility of each.
