After graduating in 2018 with a BA in American Lit and Forest Ecology from Marlboro College in Vermont, Sophie went on to work with the USFS as a technician in Wyoming and Idaho, and joined the UMN Silva Lab as research technician in 2021. She began her MS in Natural Resource Science and Management soon after, and was drawn to study Biochar and prescribed fire as a result of her experiences in the western US.
