Valerie Elder is an Assistant Professor of Forestry and Natural Resources at College of the Redwoods. She has a Bachelors of Science in Forestry and Natural Resources from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master's Degree from West Virginia University, a certificate in Higher Education Teaching from Humboldt State University and Wildlife Management Certificate from Oregon State University E-Campus. Her research interests include small-scale forest management and cross-boundary conservation. Her teaching techniques include place-based experiential learning. She is also a family forest owner in Northern California.
