Jorge Esparza is an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno majoring in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation and minoring in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). His career goals are to work as a wildlife biologist conducting research on the human dimensions of international conservation issues, especially human-wildlife conflicts. Since his childhood, Jorge has been immersed by the diversity of animals, plants, ecosystems, and biomes that exist all around the world. His dream career consists of working outdoors to maximize positive impacts on the world's ecosystems. Having achieved honor roll status for consecutive semesters and fulfilled responsibilities of working as a university tutor, in-classroom learning assistant, club officer, and researcher of his university's Sri Lanka Elephant Conservation Consortium internship program, he is ready to enhance his professional status to the next level. For graduate education, Jorge plans to pursue the study of human-tiger conflicts in India to further understand the role of human dimensions on the complex dynamics of human-wildlife conflict, especially under India's Project Tiger conservation movement launched in 1973.
