Dr. Sharik is co-founder of the Biennial Conferences on University Education in Natural Resources and the North American Forest Ecology Workshops and served as Education Chair for the National Association of Forest Resources Programs (NAUFRP) from 2012-2018. His involvement with SAF, where he is a Fellow, includes being on the editorial board of the Journal of Forestry for forest ecology and for communications and education, on the Task Force for Accreditation in Natural Resources, and a founding member of the Diversity and Inclusion Working Group--where he currently serves as a resource specialist. He continues to analyze student enrollment trends in natural resources, with an emphasis on diversity.
