Raised in the Boston suburb of Needham, Massachusetts, Ben Blom first embarked on his journey to becoming a forester when he landed a job as a wildlife technician in Mendocino County, California. Upon receiving his Master of Forestry degree from the Yale School of the Environment in 2010, Ben served for 12 years with the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado and California, including a stint as manager of Headwaters Forest Reserve in Northern California. With more than 15 years of restoration and forest management experience, Blom leads Save the Redwoods League’s portfolio of restoration and stewardship work, including landscape-scale pojects designed to rehabilitate California’s iconic coast redwood and giant sequoia forests. In this role, Blom also oversees the care and management of all League-owned lands, as well as the League’s portfolio of conservation easements.
