High School Curriculum Program Manager
Wisconsin Forestry Center
Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States
Jared Schroeder started teaching high school biology in 2008 to share his love of science and the natural world. Instead of pursuing a career in the sciences himself he felt that he could do more for the field if he could show students how rewarding science can be. After fourteen years of teaching an opportunity arose that would extend his reach to more classrooms than his own. In 2022 he started a new career with the Wisconsin Forestry Center at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, tasked with the creation of a high school curriculum that focuses on forestry. A curriculum that is experiential, applied, and relevant to the myriad careers in forestry. Over the course of his first year working with the WFC he was accepted into the Education Sustainability Doctorate at UW-Stevens Point which has given him a unique ability to tie this new curriculum to a dissertation. Jared is looking forward to creating a curriculum he would have been excited to share with his students.
