In his capacity as Chief Scientist of Blue Forest, Phil is focused on understanding the environmental and economic benefits of ecosystem restoration to motivate innovative, long-term investments in natural infrastructure. Collaborating with the research community and technologists, he works on developing, testing, and applying tools for evaluating the benefits of ecosystem restoration projects across the forestry, water resources, wildfire, climate, and public health sectors. Phil supports Blue Forest's science team, who lead benefit evaluation and reporting for restoration projects financed with the Forest Resilience Bond, and is engaged in state and federal policy efforts in conservation finance.
