Ian Kennedy started his career in forestry at Kennesaw State University where he received a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Ecology in 2021. While there he, worked as an undergraduate researcher for an ecology lab studying montane longleaf pine regeneration and cataloguing tree and herb species. He then accepted a summer internship with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens maintaining and researching native plant species, before starting his Master’s degree in Forestry last year. Ian is now a second year master’s student, working to identify key indicators of ecosystem health and function on timber harvest and surface mined sites.
