Lynda C. Olman is a Professor of English at the University of Nevada, Reno, who studies the rhetoric of science—particularly the public reception of visual arguments about climate and environment. Currently, she is working with the National Weather Service on a NOAA grant to improve the visualization of probabilistic weather-hazard forecasts using community risk thresholds. She also has a co-authored monograph (with Birgit Schneider) under contract with Routledge on the promise and problems of visualizing forests from space (Global Forest Visualization: From Green Marbles to Storyworlds, projected 2023).
