Stephanie Chizmar obtained a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Spanish at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 2014. She completed a M.S. in Natural Resources (Concentration: Economics and Management; Minor: Forestry) in 2018 and a Ph.D. in Forestry and Environmental Resources (Minor: Economics) in 2021 at North Carolina State University. She has performed research on financial programs, agroforestry, economic contribution analysis, and urban forestry. In September 2022, she started her career with the US Forest Service, Southern Research Station as a Research Economist. Her research assignments include the economics of human and natural forest-based disturbances amd forest product markets and trade.
