Graduate Research Assistant Texas A&M University College Station, Texas, United States
The overall goal is to map urban trees on the Texas A&M University campus and estimate their biophysical parameters using mobile lidar. The specific objectives will be to: develop the methodologies of mobile lidar data collection and analysis, and directly compare field vs lidar-derived measurements.
Learning Objectives:
Understand what lidar is how the data are collected and used.
Appreciate how mobile lidar can be used in a forest setting to collect 3D data.
Understand how tree biophysical parameters are measured within a 3D point cloud.
Recognize the benefits in efficiency of collecting lidar data in a forest.
Appreciate the increase in accuracy of 3D data over traditional methods.
