To sustain mixed-oak forests, an understanding of the dynamics that lead to high abundance of dominant-codominant oak species in young forests is critical. We model the role of forest characteristics before a disturbance and its interaction with the environment in determining the abundance of dominant-codominant oak species in young stands.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the basic cycle of regeneration, disturbance, and recruitment as it relates forest stand management.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the differences between forest development stages as related to oak stem recruitment.
