We developed an inverse modeling approach to define mature forests based on long-established and recognized old-growth structural attributes. This approach uses a variety of components that can be refined across future versions of the model using emerging technology, refined relative length of growth stages, and incorporation of other social/cultural values.

Participants will gain an initial understanding of the classification approach the USFS developed in response to EO14072 in regards to mature forests classification.
