Application of silvicultural methods, including mechanical site preparation, planting of appropriate planting stock, and appropriate use of planting aids, particularly mounding and bedding coupled with more mature planting stock, positively influence survival and growth, and offer an economic incentive for riparian buffer restoration on old field agricultural sites.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, landowners and practitioners will be able to apply the presentation methods and results to determine which site preparation, planting stock, and/or planting aids are best suited for their site and economic needs.
Upon completion, landowners and practitioners will be able to employ an assessment tool to gauge agroforestry potential on agricultural lands that currently provide low economic benefit.
