Recent California droughts are characterized by abnormally large precipitation deficits and high temperatures. Substantial increases in tree mortality have occurred. Our session focuses on the causes/underlying mechanisms of tree mortality, effects on resource objectives and ecosystem goods/services, and solutions to minimize future tree losses based on practical experiences.
