Recent California droughts are characterized by abnormally large precipitation deficits and high temperatures. Substantial increases in tree mortality have occurred. Our session focuses on the causes/underlying mechanisms of tree mortality, effects on resource objectives and ecosystem goods/services, and solutions to minimize future tree losses based on practical experiences.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the major drivers of tree mortality in California.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify effective tools for increasing resistance and resilience of forests to future stressors and disturbances.
