Colorado is developing a Statewide Biomass Assessment. Residential fuelwood usage is a component of this. The last residential fuelwood survey was conducted in 1982. Colorado’s population has more than doubled since then. This project provides an estimate of residential fuelwood usage during the year 2021.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the historical context and significance of residential fuelwood consumption in Colorado's energy landscape.
Upon completion, participants will be able to analyze the challenges and obstacles faced in updating residential fuelwood data, including the reasons behind the 40-year data gap.
Upon completion, participants will be able to outline the intended survey methods and future directions for research and collaborations to ensure sustainable forest management in Colorado.
Upon completion, participants will be able to distinguish between past and current residential heating choices in Colorado, emphasizing the evolving role of EPA-approved stoves and technology.
