We set up an experiment to understand the mechanisms of branch mortality under shade conditions. Our results will help improve prediction of where the base of live crown is, and ultimately improve process-based models predicting stem growth and mortality.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the physiological processes that take place when branches are undergoing mortality.
Conduct various gas exchange as well as plant water relations measurements in branches.
