National Forester Natural Resources Conservation Service
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is exploring opportunities for integrating trees into urban agriculture efforts, through urban agroforestry. This presentation will review opportunities and challenges, based on discussions with experts from inside and outside NRCS. Discussion will elicit meeting participant questions, interests, ideas, and experiences in this area.
Learning Objectives:
Identify potential benefits of urban agroforestry
Describe ways in which NRCS, and particular EQIP, can provide financial assistance for urban agroforestry efforts.
Identify potential challenges and opportunities for undertaking urban agroforestry, in general and with regard to EQIP financial assistance, from the perspective of natural resource professionals and producers.
Describe urban landowner/renter motivations for, and interests in, undertaking agroforestry.
